NIQAB SOCIAL EXPERIMENT

After being inspired by the rapper M.I.A (who i mentioned in my previous post) , i'm going to conduct a social experiment on wearing the niqab london inshAllah....It would be interesting to see peoples reactions and to see how i feel as a person; whether i feel invisible or at center stage....I'm well tired i'll update this post later lol mwahh xoxo

Niqab vs. Niqabitch

I don't know if anyone of you heard how rapper M.I.A appeared at the Scream awards in LA wearing Niqab! (Face veil) I have one like this but in plain black :P

A full article on this is available here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/oct/18/mia-wearing-a-niqab-at-awards-ceremony
personally I see it as a bold political statement and like it. What do you think of her move?

Also I found this which is of 2 women (aka NiqaBitch) who i suspect are either making a political statement of stirring up some tension, I have no words to describe it I'm baffled, they're basicly wearing the niqab and jilbab but have their bare legs on show.......awaillyyyy :O http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw32TU7uAi4&feature=player_embedded
Can errmmmm anyone figure out what they're trying to do?

My AnsWer To Your QUESTion.....

SALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!

Not long ago I recieved an Email me asking what sect of Islam I belong to, just incase any one else was wondering I thought I'd let everyone know via blogger :)

I have no sect, I'm just muslim. I follow the Quran and sunnah and have a deep understanding of most of the sects in islam (Sunni, Shi3a, Salafi, Wahabi, Ibaadi etc.) I prefer to avoid the fitna and class my self as simply a muslimah, My lifes easier that way......However my family is sunni and I was raised as one and I guess I act like one but do not like to be called one as in the time of our Nabi SAW there were no sects. D'accord? :D

Jelebi/Zlabiya/Mshabak : How it's made

I did a post a while back about this asian/arab sweet :) At an open asian cultural event I was able to see it being freshly made so I took a pic for you guys!! Tasting this when it was hot, crispy and fresh was just heaven :p

The guy made the batter and then squeezed it out into the hot oil in those swirly shapes, He then let it cook for a while turning it over occasionally, when they were done he added it to the pot of hot syrup where they soaked there for a while, he then drained them and placed it into that big orange pile of Jelebi/Zlabiya/Mshabak :D Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ram9an Mubarak Ya Muslim'een :)

Ramadhan Mubarak/ Kareem 2010 to all my beatiful readers :) I pray it's all going well.

As I write this I have about 6 and a Half hours to go until Iftar YAYYY!!

RAMADHAN Dresscode P1

When it's Ramadhan I take extra care to make sure I strictly follow the Islamic dresscode; for me a key part of this are the Islamic forearm sleeve covers.

These are so handy and convenient and they come in a large range of colours hemand shades so you can easily match them with your outfit! and I think that they look really nice when they're with abayat and you get a lil glimpse of it ;)
Later on InshAllah I'll add pics demonstrating how I wear them ,, ohh and I'll also include a list of places in london where you can get them, otherwise i'm positive most islamic clothing site will sell them :)

"Your wearing too many clothes...." says the person wearing short shorts :/

It was about 25 degrees today in london and when I was with a group of people I complained that it was too hot (I actually was referring to the heat from the sun beating down on my face), and then someone said "Your wearing too many clothes! your making me feel hot just looking at you"..... LOOOOOOOOOL if thats the case how do people in KSA cope when its like 50 degrees and they still manage to remain fully covered!?!? (I was wearing jeans, a tee, a cardigan ans a chiffon Hijab complete with dollies) and to highlight another point I feel traumatized from seeing people wear short shorts when they have NOT got the figure for it.Please show a little mercy to the general public. (I know I sound mean but you know)

Shi'a/Sunni/ Sects in general Debate

I dislike the fact that muslims fight each other. In my opinion the fact that  there are numerous divisions and sects and islam is the reason why the kilafat has failed to be reformed and thus why there is little unity among the muslim world. If someone asks me what religion are you I say "Muslim", if they ask what type of 'sect' I say I'm just muslim. Is there a problem with that? I won't say or hint what 'sect' i am classified under just to leave out all the fuss. We all believe 'la illaha illa Allah Muhammad rasul Allah' and submit to the will of Allah.

What if....

What if there was something that you really wanted, and you continued to chase it even though the odds were against you and no one's was on your side; and No matter how hard you tried something always came and wrecked everything and people just wouldn't let you be and it's starting to seem that they just might be only wanting to do what's best for you...is it worth still chasing it? what would you do?

Inspired By Mohammed

Inspired by Mohammed is a campaign, the Exploring Islam Foundation is Behind it; On their website it said  "The Exploring Islam Foundation (EIF) specialises in authoring, publishing and marketing high quality resources which creatively explore the numerous aspects of Islam. EIF was established fulfil the following aims:
  • Challenge misconceptions surrounding Islam and Muslims
  • Raise awareness about the belief, practice, history, and cultures of Islam
  • Collaborate with organisations on humanitarian issues
  • Highlight the contribution of Muslims to society
Our vision is of establishing a Foundation that challenges the damaging stereotypes about Islam through the medium of creative resources."  & "The Inspired by Muhammad campaign is designed to improve the public understanding of Islam and Muslims. It showcases Britons demonstrating how Muhammad inspires them to contribute to society, with a focus on women’s rights, social justice and the environment. The campaign coincides with a national polls conducted by YouGov which shows that the 69% of people believe that Islam encourages the oppression of women, that just 6% of people associate Islam with justice and that just 6% believe that Islam promotes active measures to protect the environment. Overall, nearly half of all people in the UK believe that Islam does not have a positive impact on British society."
There are posters at tube stations, on taxicabs, bus stops and all over really. I personally think that the campaign is needed and will combat the negative stereotypes of the beautiful religion that is Islam.

Shayla Vs. Pashmina

Vs.
Right ,these are the two types of hijab, that I usually wear. The shayla (which is the type that usually comes along with any abaya you buy and usually is black ; but could possibly have detailing or even a coloured print) and the pashmina or "pash" which is a thicker material and comes in a range of colours, designs and patterns. when its winter I stick to my pashminas & in the summer I wear shaylas :D. ( Sorry,I didn't feel like showing my face, so excuse the hands)

*Let's talk Politics* Eurghhh & The Depiction of Prophet Mohammed SAW

Big Whoop the  UK has a new Prime Minister called David Fakin' Cameron  (Conservative partly leader). Since the May 6 Th. election relsults we were stuck with a hung parliment For a number of days and yesterday evening Gordon Brown resigned; just when it was time for Eastenders to come gosh. So 5 minutes as prime minister and David Cameron has already pissed off the entire country the by delaying Eastenders , Well Done David :|.

Now I'm sure most of you are familiar with the depiction of Prophet Mohammed SAW in the Adult Cartoon South park. Not long ago I attended a BBC radio 1 Political debate show called "Any Questions?", at this debate was Jack Straw representing Labour, Sir Menzies Campbell representing the Liberal Democrats, Justine Roberts Founders on MumsNet and Some woman (who's  name I just cannot recall :/ lol) representing Conservatives. The bottom line is when the Politicians were asked by a member of the audience what they thought about the issue about the outrageous depiction and the threats from Islamic extremists; the Lib Dem Rep said that the cartoonists had a right the express their opinions etc. and on the matter stressed the importance of freedom of expression and said that there was nothing wrong with what they had done............ "OMFG, Ya ALLAH!!!!!!!!" <<< That was my reaction, I was furious!!!! How the fuck can he say that an act  wIth a sole purpose of causing unrest and controversy and that will anger MILLIONS of  people around the world was "right"?????.
I was so mad; I had to tell him and I did. I was appalled by his  response, when I told Sir Campbell How offended I was by his answer and how I didn't agree with it he started saying "well christians in some countries (i.e muslim ones) aren't allowed to practice now their religion blah blah blah" I replied " of course that is wrong and unjust and I do not agree with that BUT I do not want extremist representing my religion  and giving it a bad name; I also condemn any action and cause that will allow them do to so, so therefor what they the creators of south park did was wrong because they knew very well was reaction they'd get..." He stubbornly refused to see eye to eye with me so good luck to him :@ ..... Grrrrrrr How can they blatantly disrespect muslims like that?

What I wore to a: WEDDING :)

Below here is a picture of me and my lovely friend , I'm on the left and she's on the right; One thing I love about this picture is how it gives you two versions of an Islamic outfits. Mine ofcourse is not as Islamic as hers, So yeahh. Oh and here's a close up of my Hijab style (Sorry the lighting was bad in the close up picture and in the other one the pic was taken with a 2MP blackberry ), :D Enjoy Lovelies <3

It's that time of the year (Unfortunately :| )

 EXAM SEASON  IS HERE ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I just thought some of you would be intersted in this, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper recently launched their own lipstick and lip gloss shades, with the money raised from sales to be used for AIDS research.
The two singers were interviewed by Sharon Osbourne, (Fellow Brit and wife of the infamous Rocker Ozzy Osbourne) The interview was streamed live I'm sure it could be soom on the cosmetic company's website and Facebook.
The company said they chose the two female icons of different generations for their big personalities.

A Friend told me about this so i thought I'd share ;

"1001 Inventions traces the forgotten story of a thousand years of science from the Muslim world, from the 7th century onwards.

Featuring many interactive exhibits, displays and dramatisations, the exhibition explores the shared scientific heritage of diverse cultures and looks at how many modern inventions can trace their roots back to Muslim civilisation.
Exhibits include numerous electronic interactives, a reproduction of a 9th century flying device and a five-metre high replica of the “Elephant Clock”. The exhibition features more than sixty exhibits and a large screen displaying a mini-movie starring Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley as Al-Jazari, inventor of the fabled Elephant Clock. Find out more at the exhibition website." (taken from the website)

The 'Natural' look?

Tbh because I have been at home for over 3 weeks, I actually don't have anything interesting to post :(
So today I was buying some Make-up online, When I was reconsidering my "Everday" or "Just popping to the shops" Look. Most days of when I have time this is what I would usually wear for a 'Natural' look.

With the amount of products I use it doesn't look so natural LOL but I guess it depends on the amount  you put on. I usually put on a lil' bit of everything, Like for example If you go over board and excessive you'll end up looking like Image A. The model In image B has minimal make-up but still looks flawless. even though the image is airbrushed it is still easy to see how less can be more. :
AVs B
